Cirque du Soleil, The Light Group join in venue at Mandalay Bay
Cirque du Soleil is partnering with The Light Group for a theatrical nightclub project at Mandalay Bay. Light President Andrew Sasson’s PR executives confirmed this news to me this morning.
“The Cirque-themed nightclub will have a show that’s going to happen in the ceiling, in the walls and on the floor,” Andrew said in a statement provided to me. The news comes just days after our VegasDeLuxe.com exclusive that The Light Group also had been heavily rumored to be the buyer of The Rio owned by Caesars Entertainment.
There still has been no official statement, denial or confirmation about that story. I’m told, although unable to confirm, that the new Cirque-Light venture will take over the sprawling space of the former — and now shuttered — Rum Jungle.
Cirque founder Guy Laliberte is said to have a personal interest in the expansion into the nightclub area. TLG operates Revolution Lounge for Cirque alongside The Beatles Love showroom at The Mirage.
